BCAS 1.0

Book Certification Assessment Standard

Structured Assessments. Transparent Methodology. Verifiable Achievements.

The Book Certification Assessment Standard (BCAS) is our proprietary framework for designing, administering and verifying independent book knowledge assessments.

Developed to promote consistency, transparency and accountability, BCAS defines the principles that guide how knowledge acquired through books is evaluated and documented.

Proprietary Assessment Framework — Version 1.0

Our Seven Assessment Principles

Each principle includes a concise overview and expandable detail. Use a heading's disclosure control to read the full framework statement.

BCAS-01 — Assessment StructureEach standard book assessment consists of 20 questions, designed to evaluate understanding of the referenced work in a structured and consistent format.

Each standard book assessment consists of 20 questions.

The assessment is designed to evaluate the learner's understanding of the referenced work through a structured and consistent format.

BCAS-02 — Content & Literary UnderstandingEach standard assessment follows a 17+3 question structure: 17 questions about the book's content and 3 about how the work communicates its ideas.

17 Content Knowledge Questions

Evaluate the learner's understanding of the book's substantive content, including:

Main ideas and concepts

Significant arguments and themes

Relationships between concepts

Important information and developments

Interpretation and comprehension

3 Style, Structure & Literary Understanding Questions

Examine relevant aspects of how the author communicates the work, including:

Writing style

Narrative or argumentative structure

Literary or rhetorical devices

Presentation and organisation of ideas

For technical or non-literary works, the three questions should focus on applicable writing, explanatory or structural characteristics rather than forcing inappropriate literary analysis.

The objective is to evaluate understanding of both what the book communicates and how it communicates it.

BCAS-03 — Originality & Intellectual PropertyBook Certification independently creates assessments intended to evaluate understanding without reproducing passages from the referenced work.

Book Certification independently creates its assessments.

Assessment questions are intended to evaluate understanding of the referenced work without reproducing passages from the original book.

The platform does not claim ownership of the underlying books or their protected content.

Book titles and author names are used for identification and reference purposes.

Unless expressly stated, assessments are not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by the respective authors or publishers.

BCAS-04 — AI-Assisted Assessment QualityAI supports question creation and evaluation. BCAS documents quality criteria without implying unverified validation is already in operation.

Artificial intelligence supports the creation and evaluation of assessment questions.

The BCAS framework establishes quality criteria addressing:

Question relevance

Clarity and readability

Accuracy of expected answers

Potential ambiguity

Duplicate questions

Appropriate difficulty

Coverage of the referenced work

Consistency between questions and answer keys

Automated validation procedures should be implemented where technically feasible.

Current validation limits: The generation workflow checks exactly 20 questions, the 17+3 category split, four distinct nonempty answer options, valid answer-key indices, and unique question text and identifiers. These checks do not verify factual accuracy, question relevance, semantic ambiguity, paraphrased duplication, difficulty, coverage, factual answer-key correctness, psychometric validity, expert moderation or independent validation. Those remain framework criteria or future quality work unless separately implemented and verified.

BCAS-05 — Scoring & Assessment CriteriaResults must reflect the scoring rules that are actually implemented, with applicable requirements communicated before an assessment begins.

Assessments operate under documented scoring and passing criteria.

The platform should communicate applicable assessment requirements before users begin an assessment.

Assessment results must reflect the scoring rules actually implemented within the system.

The current platform calculates the number correct as a proportion of the questions and rounds the percentage to the nearest whole number. A score of 70% or above is treated as a successful assessment. The actual number of questions is displayed during the assessment.

No change to existing passing thresholds, scoring algorithms, examination duration or retake rules is part of this website update.

BCAS-06 — Assessment Review & CorrectionsBCAS provides a framework for addressing potentially inaccurate, ambiguous or disputed questions through existing support or feedback channels.

BCAS establishes a framework for addressing potentially inaccurate, ambiguous or disputed assessment questions.

Users should be able to report concerns through the platform's existing support or feedback mechanisms.

Where appropriate, review may result in a correction of a question, adjustment of an answer key, reassessment of an affected result, assessment version updates or other appropriate corrective actions.

No review time or outcome is guaranteed by this framework description.

BCAS-07 — Certificate Verification & TraceabilityEligible successful assessments may result in a Certificate of Knowledge with a unique ID and access to the platform's existing online verification mechanism.

Successful completion of an eligible assessment may result in a digital Certificate of Knowledge.

Each certificate includes a unique identification number and access to the platform's existing online verification mechanism.

The verification system allows third parties to check the authenticity and recorded details of a certificate issued by Book Certification.

BCAS establishes the framework for documenting the assessment methodology associated with the certificate.

The BCAS framework reference and verification QR are additive certificate presentation features. Applying them to previously issued certificates does not establish historical validation evidence, reissue a credential, or change its ID, holder, recorded result or original issuance date. Previously downloaded files remain unchanged.

How Our Assessment Process Works

Five connected steps take learners from book selection to certificate verification.

  1. Select a Book

Choose a book from the existing assessment catalogue.

  2. Complete the Assessment

Answer questions designed to evaluate understanding of the referenced work.

  3. Receive Your Result

Your performance is evaluated according to the platform's applicable scoring criteria.

  4. Obtain Your Certificate

Eligible successful assessments result in a Certificate of Knowledge.

  5. Verify Your Achievement

Use the certificate's unique ID or verification link to confirm its authenticity.

What BCAS Does — and Does Not — Represent

BCAS is a proprietary assessment framework developed by Book Certification to establish documented requirements for book knowledge assessments.

It supports consistency, transparency, assessment quality and certificate traceability.

BCAS is not an ISO standard, governmental accreditation, academic accreditation or independent third-party certification.

Certificates issued under BCAS document successful completion of Book Certification's own knowledge assessments.

They do not confer academic degrees, professional qualifications, occupational licences or author/publisher endorsement.

Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Book Certification aims to maintain and progressively improve its assessment methodology.

The BCAS framework may evolve through improvements in assessment design, question quality, AI-assisted validation, accuracy and consistency, fairness, review and correction procedures, and certificate verification.

BCAS is version-controlled so future revisions can be identified and documented. This page describes the documented framework; it does not certify that every listed quality measure is operational.
